9/12: The Aftermath
Sep 13 2006
So here we are, five years to the day….after 9/11. Also 3 years to the day that Johnny Cash passed, but more on that later.
Yesterday, during all the 9/11 hype, I had the time to do something that I’d wanted to do for a while. See there was this little phenomena out there for the last year about some movie that was supposedly definitive proof that 9/11 was a massive conspiracy. So, after all the hype of ABC’s little mini-series of their account of 9/11, the couple of movies that have come out about it, and all the 5 year anniversary coverage, I figured what the hell, I’ll watch the conspiracy one too. I mean if nothing else it should be a hoot. While it looked pretty straight forward on the surface, sure it has the quality of being put together by a AV kid from your local high school, but I wanted to see how they were going to try to prove that we were victims of what would have to be the largest, most complex, secretive event ever committed by any government in the history of the world.
Well, they didn’t even come close. It was rather disappointing really. By all means, see for yourself, don’t just take my word for it. That being said, knowing that you can find anything on the internet, I went looking for sites that offer a counter-argument to these folks fine investigative reporting. I did. Quite a few of them actually. They all seem to echo the same sentiment:
Other than speculation and offering up conjecture from questionable sources, this movie is completely full of shit. Harsh language, I know, but there really isn’t a nicer way to put it. Not only is this movie on it’s second edition (seems the makers adjusted a few completely over the top errors), but even it’s creators openly state that they did not go to great lengths to ensure the accuracy of the information. They just wanted to entice the public to take their information and do their own research. Well that research was done, and it shows they’re full of crap.
Yeah, I know, I usually have a video up here as of late. So you’re probably saying to yourself ‘why not put it up here’. Well, quite frankly I’d rather have my teeth drilled with a Black-N-Decker cordless than make it THAT easy for you to watch it. I do think however, that the best way to see it is to go and read the Loose Change Guide. It give a scene by painstakingly researched scene look at the entire film, where basically not a minute goes by where some bit of misinformation in the movie is exposed. I ran across something similar to this type of counter-point guide after I went looking for more information about Michael “Entertainer not Documentarian” Moore that pretty much butchered his 9/11 movie (which I had suspected wasn’t too truthful since it wasn’t entered as a Best Documentary even after all the hype that went following it everywhere).
That being said, it’s truly amazing at what the general public or sections of the general public can just pick up and run with. Taking some piece of fiction, thinking to themselves that it looks so real, then convincing themselves without questioning. Even more humorous is this is a group of people who will spout off about questioning the government, but if you raise a question to them (I raised several and asked for any facts they might have about their stance) and was given no answers to them, only called names for trying to insight dissent. Sure, that’s always the logical way to debate differing opinions and respond to the request for some scientific data to back their amazing claims. Claims that, while the government was able to pull of the most complex and secretive mission in history on one hand, was also able to manipulate the laws of physics, the human eye, the human ear, video, audio, and thought control in order to pull this off. Sorry, but if that was how powerful our government is, Bill Clinton wouldn’t be associated with the game Hide The Cigar.
Ok, enough ranting on that issue, it’s just amazing at what some people can convince themselves of. Now….
It’s also 3 years ago today that Johnny Cash left us 3 years ago today. One of the greatest influences in music. He’s still missed!
