First and foremost, it’s been a pretty jam-packed time with the wedding less than 3 months away. This weekend, if all goes well, I’ll be taking the car in to get the window protection put on to ward off any of those pesky flying rocks. After that it’s over to get the tuxedos lined up for the wedding. Hopefully this goes better than it did at all the previous tuxedo fittings I’ve taken part in. Sure, what seems great in front of that mirror, often appears years later to be a horrid selection in what really looks good on my Atlas-like physique. I can only keep my fingers crossed and pray.

*Shameless Plug* If you haven’t taken a peek at the business site lately, I’d urge you to do so. We just got an amazing response to an article of Katherine’s that she reposted on the designer’s blog over there leading to over 2000 visitors in just 3 days. Not bad exposure for little local design company like us. We’ve completed a few more clients whose sites you can see in in the portfolio. Business is much better than we’d expected only 6 months into it. Good things are on the horizon, too. Once we get done with the wedding and get a chance to breathe, we’ll be looking at the possibility of taking on our biggest project to date. More on that as it evolves, but it’s definitely a great prospect, and a great opportunity for some major exposure. Of course, free plugs on a site with web influence as large as boroski.com has is huge in and of itself. Almost akin to being on the top page of Digg. However, this project would definitely be a great boost and a chance at some equally great contacts. *End of Shameless Plug*

Now that we have that out of the way, I’d also like to give a very happy birthday out to my niece. She’s a happy 1 year-old today. If you remember correctly, boroski.com was one of the first official newsbreakers of her birth. When she’s famous, she’ll be able to trace her success back to the staff here (me). Building on that hugely successful appearance (and to steal a bit from Stephen Colbert), thanks to the phenomena I’d like to coin as the “Boroski Boost”, she’s currently what I consider a front runner in a cute baby contest. Feel free to check it out, and just like any election worth a damn, make sure to vote early and vote often. You don’t have to sign up, just click to vote and you’ll see an option on the right hand side to ‘vote as a guest’, or something to that effect.

At this point you’re probably saying to yourself “ok, ok, what’s with that photo of you and the other guy”. Well that other guy is the one, the only, the legend: Jim Norton. We caught his show at Cobb’s Comedy Club in San Francisco and it was amazing as usual. Really, nothing I can say could do it justice, other than it was Jimmy at his best. So shameless plug for his site here. When you couple that with seeing Louis CK at Punchline a couple weeks back, seeing Rich Vos there the weekend after my birthday, Bill Burr at Punchline the end of this month, and Robert Kelly there next month, it’s safe to say we’ll be laughing all the way to the wedding. Which is definitely a good way to kick it all off.

Ok, enough of the palaver…this ought to keep you occupied for a bit. In case it doesn’t, here:

Pitchers and catchers have reported for spring training. Hence the joy I’m feeling about spring time. What more can I possibly say other than: Baseball is back!

In other news:

I’m through with youtube.com hosting on the main page, in case you didn’t notice. I’m going to experiment with placing my own flash in this little spot over on the right. Also, with the addition of the stumble links, I wont have to worry about finding a ton of links for the ‘featured’ section, since they sort of take over what the featured section was all about. It will become a best of the best type of attraction. Ah, evolution, ain’t it great.

Behind the scenes though, there will be a lot going on, not for your eyes, but I’m finally going to do something that I originally intended for the site in general. That is, giving myself a playground to experiment on different facets of design while having a platform to check my work and troubleshoot as I go. Not a bad deal if you ask me.

Speaking of bad deals (yeah that segue sucked), Joe Rogan from TV’s Fear Factor was recently banned from the Comedy Store in L.A. and dropped by his management company thanks to his actions two weeks ago. Rogan was on-stage at the Comedy Store and happened to elude to Carlos Mencia being a renowned joke thief. Mencia, also in the room, took offense and when he went on stage to protest, he was treated to about an hour of Rogan and various other comedians confronting him, specifying bits, and basically destroying every ounce of credibility that Menstealia, as Rogan dubbed him, has. It was truly a glorious site. See the original video of the situation here, and see a backpedaling hack comic responding to something on that video here. If you want the whole story, read it on Rogan’s site, it’s hilarious.

That’s pretty much the big story. It’s still unfolding, and it’s just a riot to follow. One can only hope that Louis CK will eventually do things to Dane Cook. Sure I could talk about Anna Nicole and Britney, but ugh, I’d have too much of an urge to eat a bullet if I ever dragged myself and my site down to that level of muck. That being said…..

~Enjoy

So, yesterday was a day that will live in infamy. I finally got to see my comedy idol Jim Norton preform at the Punch Line here in town. An amazing set to say the least. Even more so amazing is the with his brand of shock and awe comedy, he had the crowd eating out of his hand. Looking at some of the people in attendance you would think that they’d find him more offensive than funny were crying with laughter. Then there was me.

I felt like a 14 year old girl at an N’ Sync concert. I was so giddy that I was actually going to see him perform his bits live, that I was teased to no end by my friends about my anticipation of the show.

The other acts were funny to say the least. One of the comedians, Kris Tinkle, was a guy that we had seen about a month ago at the Marc Maron show. At that show he often seemed a bit unsure of his material and his ability to get the crowd laughing. Well this time he was anything but. His first joke brought out a roar from the crowd and that boost of confidence left him preforming like a 20 year veteran for the rest of his time.

The highlight though was obviously lil‘ Jimmy. Rehashing some old stories, telling some of his classic bits, as well as material I’d never heard before, made it one hell of an evening. Especially the classic Monster Rain bit (a story about his ‘experimentation’ with another friend of his when they were about 8 years old). Shocking, yes, but insanely funny…and insane.

The night was capped off by post-show photos with Norton and Club Soda Kenny (Norton’s ‘head of security’ who also had preformed that duty for Andrew Dice Clay back in the day), a couple of autographs, and my new shiny shirt seen here. What can I say, I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to shout from the rooftops about what a phenomenal night I had. If I can offer you one bit of advice, it would be this: if Norton comes to your town, run, don’t walk, to the club and catch his act. You won’t regret it for a moment.

After much procrastination, Xbox 360 playing, and working on a few sites for others, MY SITE IS FINALLY UPGRADED!!!

Sound the trumpets and roll out the red carpet, because here it is. Now aren’t you impressed? Was it worth the wait. Heh, of course it was. I’m sure you were getting tired of the old look, as I was. Considering that in the few short months I’ve had boroski.com, I’ve learned quite a bit more about web design. In order for you all to take me seriously, I figured I’d better create more of a ‘serious’ look to my site. I’m not trying to bad-mouth my original look by any means (the learning curve has to start somewhere, right). However, when compared to this, you can’t disagree that it was pretty rudimentary.

So, what can you expect with this new layout? Well, the same thing you expected with the old one. Some great links to visit, some outrageous videos to view, and some witty banter to read. You wouldn’t want it any other way would you? The updates will now be back on track every week, occurring either Sunday night or Monday (depending on my ‘demanding’ schedule that’s known as my life). So, you’ve got that going for you! This means you can shut off the bath water and put the razor blades away. You’ve got a reason to live again.

As for what’s on tap this week….

Well, I’m rather excited about the fact that my favorite comedian, Jim Norton is coming to town. I’ll be at his show on Friday night and there will be a recap posted in the blog. Hopefully, he’ll be taking pity on a nobody like myself and will pose for a photo with me. Other than that, I’ll be continuing my dominance of my circle of friends on Xbox Live (if you’re interested in buying one, read this first), as well as continuing the mission of getting the house all squared away (I moved in with Katherine in December in case you forgot).

So that being said, enjoy the featured content for the week, and thanks a lot for your patience during this entire redesign time. While my numbers weren’t quite as up there as I’ve grown accustomed to (understandably so), it’s good to know that through it all you didn’t wipe the site from your mind.

Now, on with the show!!
